2015 In Review

Salvador Dellota Elementary School
It's been a good year for Balay ni Charie after reaching out to several schools in Capiz. We started the year in Panitan where 340 children from Salvador Dellota and Capagao Elemntary Schools received school supplies.

After distributing school supplies, we challenged the kids with math, spelling and history questions. Those who got the answers right received prizes. One of the questions we gave them was, "can you name three of the provinces in Panay?".

We visited four locations in Lawaan, Roxas City in May 2015, three weeks before school opening in June. The children were attending summer camp at the Sisters of the Poor School and in three neighborhood chapels. This program is a great idea because the children have a meaningful daily activity and they are fed as well. About 200 children received school supplies.

I remember one of the kids at St. Anthony Chapel. He raised his hand several times to answer the questions we posed. He got it on the third try and won a prize. You should have seen him smile.

So grateful for the generosity of our friends and family including Nieva Quezon Burdick, Monike Albar-jen, Leda Albar and an Anonymous donor. You've made a big difference in the lives of many children.
